BE A HUMMINGBIRD
A forest is on fire, and all the animals run away, looking on helplessly as their home burns. The exception is a little hummingbird, who flies to the nearest river and fills its tiny beak with water. It goes backwards and forwards putting out the forest fire. The bigger animals, such as the elephants with their trunks that could carry much more water, ask the hummingbird what it's doing. The hummingbird replies "I'm doing the best I can".
The above is a Kenyan fable, as told by Professor Wangari Maathai, founder of the Green Belt Movement and a Nobel Peace Prize winner. This story inspired our group and we hope it will inspire you, to recognise that we can all do our own small bit in our own small way to help reverse climate change.
ABOUT
Inspired by a shared interest in protecting our planet as best we can, and driven by our own personal passions, 'Be a hummingbird' began in 2022. That was when a few like-minded individuals - Beverley, Ailsa and Gill - living in South West France, decided to share our ideas and help make an impact. Our offline community 'Lot Climate Café' meets regularly and visits local eco-friendly places such as the local re-cycling plant and regenerative farming operations.
We have also created this online community to help nurture and grow the volume of solutions that can transform society and, ultimately, reduce climate change.

BE HEALTHY
Healthy Planet - We believe that the best solutions for society come from within. It is our mission to build awareness so that this is a possibility across the globe. For example, regenerative agriculture has benefits that can result in carbon drawdown and improving the water cycle.
BE HEALTHY AT HOME
There are so many small changes we can all make, and small changes add up!
To help identify steps that we can all take, whether related to food, cleaning, recycling, food waste, travel or shopping, our Blogs focus on a number of different activities.
